What is the black lens collective?

The Black Lens Collective is a community created to bring Black photographers and visual creatives together for connection, collaboration, and growth.
While there is incredible talent within our community, many creatives often work in isolation. The Black Lens Collective was created to change that by creating a space where Black photographers can network, share knowledge, collaborate on projects, and support one another. It is also a space where we can be the curators of our own stories. Where we are intentional about the visual storytelling that honors both the process and people behind the images we create.
Through meetups, creative collaborations, and community-building events, the goal is to create opportunities for Black creatives to connect and grow together.
What was the inspiration behind it's creation?
The idea for the BL Collective come from a simple observation.
As a photographer, I realized that I rarely saw many Black photographers in the same space. Sometimes I would see one, and sometimes none at all. With so many talented Black creatives out here, it made me wonder why we weren't connecting more often.
Instead of waiting for that space to exist, I decided to create one.
The BL Collective was founded to bring Black photographers and visual creatives together to build community, exchange ideas, and create opportunities for collaboration.

Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, the goal is to create a space where creatives can learn from each other and grow together.
